As its fifth year comes to a close – and its sixth masonic year begins – the Worshipful Brethren and Brethren of Leeds Light Blues have a lot to be thankful for.
Founded in 2019, Leeds Light Blues has grown in size and scale to represent new and young masons across Leeds, Wetherby, Garforth, Pontefract, Castleford, Morley, Pudsey and beyond. Coming into existence just before the pandemic it gave brethren who wouldn’t ordinarily have crossed paths an opportunity to grow, learn, and support each other throughout their masonic journeys.
Over the years we’ve listened to our members and by doing so, our scope has broadened from coordinating lodge visits and masonic lectures to a monthly brunch club, a bakers-and-makers group, a hot sauce fan club (who have tried the world’s hottest hot sauces three times and counting!), and a whiskey and wine club. In 2025 we will be bringing TTRPG nights, Chapter visits, trips to sporting events, the return of the Open Mic Lecture Night, and more to our brethren.
This November we’re particularly excited to celebrate the installation of two of our founding members – Josh Doherty-Turnbull and Matthew Wharton who take the chair of King Solomon in Zetland Lodge No. 1311 and Pilgrim Lodge No. 7728 respectively.
If you – or any brothers in your lodge, chapter, or mark – are interested in becoming members of Leeds Light Blues, please reach out and join our community by scanning our QR code or emailing us at secretary@lightblues.co.uk.
