Two new Masons in paper crowns celebrating the coronation, as part of our 2023 Social Calendar

A Royal Affair – A Masonic Social fit for a King’s Coronation

As New Masons, we love to socialise and have a good time with our brethren, and one of the best places to do this is at our local pub. The Packhorse in Leeds is the our regular spot to gather for a fun, casual social event with fellow New Masons, and was once again our destination when we went out for our Coronation Social.

The programme started with a good brunch with the new LLB Committee, and then moved to The Packhorse to watch the coronation It was a beautiful ceremony, and it was great to be in the company of like-minded brethren tutting in the Naughty Corner that they hadn’t bothered to learn their lines.

We had a huge selection of brethren drop in and out through the day, and it was a pleasure to see them all.

We watched the Leeds United vs Man City game from the pub, the results of which are why it’s taken a month and a half to be able to talk about it.

(Side note, did you know both Leeds & Man City have Masonic connections, Don Revie was a mason, and Man City wear light blue from Freemasonry).

We moved on for some amazing cocktails at Blind Tyger, following which the orders were takeaways and taxis.

Despite the football, it was an excellent day, and I look forward to attending the next social gathering to continue the friendships and festivities.
